As the first session of the 4-part series, participants will explore the roots, theory, and core therapeutic elements of CCPT.

Participants will:

  • Review the history of PT and identify key concepts of the APT-recognized seminal theory of CCPT

  • Identify two ways to empower children

  • List and articulate the therapeutic powers of play

  • Discuss role and development of the therapeutic relationship in PT

  • Articulate and explain the stages of the play therapy process

  • Discuss and demonstrate foundational CCPT skills

Julie Thigpen is approved by the Association for Play Therapy to offer continuing education specific to play therapy and maintains responsibility for the program. Credit available to mental health professionals and graduate students in a mental health program. APT Approved Provider #24-744
