Distinctive Admin Team
Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Jinnelle V. Powell, PhD, LPC-S
At Distinctive, Dr. Powell oversees the daily operations so that our Distinctive Counselors can do what they do best: provide high quality and affordable mental health care to those in our community. She is a professor in Counselor Education and Supervision, a licensed professional counselor, board approved supervisor, and lifelong learner who believes in the power of honest conversation, education, and human connection. She is drawn to mystery novels, stories with emotional depth, and anything that gets people reflecting - whether it’s in a classroom, a therapy session, or streaming series.
Yoga keeps Dr. Powell grounded, good fiction keeps her curious, and voices like Maya Angelou and Paulo Friere remind her why she does what she does. At the heart of it, she is here to help people grow, deepen their understanding of themselves, and write new chapters - one story at a time.
