Laura Heil, MS, LPC-S

Laura Heil is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor, Certified Texas School Counselor and Certified Texas Science Teacher. She has strong roots in the Coastal Bend and is proud to live and serve here. She grew up playing on the beach and still enjoys the natural beauty of this area and the friendly people. Her favorite things are walking along the bayfront and spending time with her family, two dogs and cat. She began working with children when she was a teenager as a camp counselor, sailing instructor, and babysitter. Her passion for helping kids only strengthened and she became a middle school science teacher and elementary school counselor for a total of fourteen years. She has served on district leadership teams while working with Corpus Christi Independent School District with the goal of improving counseling services for students. She received her Master of Science in Counseling in 2009 and Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science in 2003 from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.

Laura began counseling in private practice in 2019 and transitioned from part-time to full-time in 2023. She works with children, adolescents, and adults. She believes the family system plays an important role in healing and works closely with parents in the counseling process. She has additional training in Grief and Loss, Solution-Focused, Trauma, Attachment and Play Therapy. She uses a combination of counseling approaches including Person-Centered, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solution-Focused, Narrative Therapy and Expressive Arts. She has served as Secretary and University Liaison of the Coastal Bend Chapter of the Texas Association for Play Therapy. She has presented at numerous national, state and local counseling conferences with the goal of contributing to and advancing the counseling profession. She believes professional growth and involvement in professional organizations is necessary to provide the best possible care to her clients.

Laura is currently pursuing her doctorate in Counselor Education from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. She is currently a Doctoral Candidate (ABD) and hopes to finish her dissertation and graduate next year. She served as the Assistant Clinic Director at the Counseling and Training Clinic at TAMU-CC for three years, which gave her the opportunity to supervise dozens of students preparing to enter the field as counselors. She recently became a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor and is honored to support the next generation of counselors. She loves being a counselor and is grateful for the opportunity to work alongside her clients as they discover the next steps towards creating a vision for their life that aligns with their values. She works to create a therapeutic alliance with her clients and fosters hope, self-compassion and resilience.
