Distinctive Play Counselor

Holly is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in Texas. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Communications from Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi and a Master’s Degree in Counseling and Guidance from Texas A&M University - Kingsville. She specializes in neurodivergence, is EMDR Trained working towards EMDR certification, and spent many of her associate hours training on our Distinctive Play team learning all things play therapy with her past supervisor, Elizabeth Barrientes, MS, RPT, LPC-S.

Holly has experience working with children for over 10 years. Six years was as a School Counselor at Windsor Park Elementary, working with Gifted & Talented and neurodivergent children. The other 4 years as a High School English Teacher and Middle School Math & Algebra Teacher.  Her experience prior to this with Child Protective Services gave her the goal of helping children in any capacity she could and understanding that a child’s well-being is shaped by their relationships at home, school and other places they frequent.

Holly would love to help you and your twice-exceptional child learn how to navigate life’s challenges in a therapeutic way.  She worked with children and teens struggling with anxiety, depression, peer relationships, self-esteem, school issues, ADHD, ODD, IED, and autism. She is passionate about guiding a child to advocate for themselves in a manner that works with their personality.

Holly was born in Corpus Christi, raised in Robstown and has lived in both.  She is married and has 1 son who is 18 years old named Connor and 1 fluffy cat named Kiki. In her free time, she enjoys watching & collecting anything Star Wars, spending time with friends and family or enjoying time alone. Holly is currently accepting new clients.
